About Benstud Standardbreds

Breeders of Bathurst Crown winner Soho Valencia and Philadelphia Man. Also residing on the farm are the Dams of Vic Oaks winner Bellas Delight $101,030 (Bella Aurora) and Fly Like An Eagle Group 1 winner with 9 starts and 8 wins $200,000. Peter, Judy, Craig and Renee Judd have been breeding and racing standardbreds with great success for more than 15 years, taking over the former ‘Lynrose Stud’ in 2007 and renaming it Benstud Standardbreds. Peter oversees the day-to-day operations of the property, while Craig and his wife Renee are both qualified A.I. technicians and are responsible for ensuring the mares get in foal, along with preparing the yearlings for the forthcoming sales. Craig is also heavily involved in the pre-training and jogging-up of the horses on the well-appointed property. To complete the family involvement, Peter’s wife Judy attends to the paperwork of operating such a progressive professional business. The Judd’s are no ‘Johnny-come-lately’ name to this business. At the 2009 Melbourne Yearling Sales, this father-son team had the unique distinction of selling both the top priced colt along with the top priced filly in the sale, then followed that up in 2010 fetching $51,000 for their Art Major colt out of one of the farm’s notable mares -- My Liberty Belle. Previously they had produced Yrubla, the brilliant juvenile whose wins included the 2007 Group 1 Bathurst Gold Crown, and The Jamaican, a winner of more than $160,000. Benelise was a smart Moonee Valley winner, while Schindler has taken a record to date of 1:56.3 in his wins at Melton and Menangle. The talented fillies Morgan Abby 1:55.7, winner to date of $108,505 including the Victoria Gold Chalice plus three heats of the Australian Pacing Gold, is another helping to carry Benstud’s flag for this sex. Bendall Rose is a dual NSW Sire Stakes heat winner. Nunganungstein is a Gloucester Park winner, and Holdmehat has won in 1:56.6. Success breeds success. So to get that winning feeling, you too should become involved with Benstud Standardbreds to enjoy a short-cut to success no matter which of the major Australian yearling sales you support as a vendor. |
